8 Whitehaven took operational control of Werris Creek in December 2008. Saleable coal production has increased steadily since then and was running at capacity of 1.4 Mtpa in the last quarter of FY 2009. Gunnedah saleable coal production of 1.69 Mt was 33% above the previous year, due to continuing solid performance from Tarrawonga and the commencement of operations at Rocglen and Sunnyside.
